Citizens' Police Academy

Sheriff Bill Prummell invites you to attend the 73rd Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Citizens' Police Academy, beginning on September 4th, 2024!

Classes meet every Wednesday for 6 weeks from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at CCSO Headquarters, located at 7474 Utilities Road in Punta Gorda. Graduation will be held Wednesday, October 9th.

"Field trips" to different meeting locations will be discussed in advance and are within a 2-mile radius.

For 25 years the Citizens' Police Academy has been able to provide the public with a working knowledge of the various jobs our members do every day. This 6-week course takes a deep dive into the various pieces that make up the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. Students will have the opportunity to hear from Sheriff Bill Prummell, the Cold Case Unit, Major Crimes, 911 Communications, Aviation, SWAT, K9 and more! Students will also see up close and personal live demonstrations. This opportunity provides graduates of the Citizens' Police Academy with a better understanding of the various ways the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office serves YOU.
