Pay Rate: $49,840 after passing state exam $54,949
Job Summary: The purpose of this job is to Learn to answer 911 and non-emergency phone calls and to dispatch responders to calls for service.
Essential Job Functions:
Answers emergency and non-emergency calls under close supervision, on a training basis.
Learns the criteria for determining priority and importance of call/information and inputs call data into CAD system.
Learns to operate NCIC and FCIC computer systems to obtain information and make entries.
Must meet a minimum of a two-year commitment from training period prior to being eligible to apply for other internal positions/transfers.

Minimum Requirements:
High school graduation or G.E.D. equivalent.
Must obtain Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification, NCIC/FCIC Certification and EMD/CPR Certification within prescribed time frame. Ability to type 40 correct words per minute
Physical Effort Required:
The work of this class primarily involves sedentary work that includes walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
Working Conditions:
This class primarily works in an office setting.
